Admissions

Independent schools run their own admissions. You register directly with the school, usually for a fee, and the school sets its own deadlines, assessments and offer dates, which are separate from the borough process.

Entry points, as published by the school

  • Year 7 (11+)

Three-part process: the ISEB Common Pre-Test (computer-based adaptive assessment), school-set written assessments in English, Mathematics and General Comprehension (three separate papers, on-site only, no alternative dates), and an interview of approximately 20 minutes with a senior member of staff for selected candidates. Registration fee £265 (waived for bursary-only applicants); deposit of 50% of one term's fees on acceptance (reduced for bursary candidates). Source

  • Sixth form (16+)

Three-stage process: Stage 1 baseline testing, Stage 2 written assessments in four chosen A Level subjects (45 minutes per paper; Mathematics and Further Mathematics count as one subject), then subject-specific interviews for shortlisted candidates (a fifth subject paper may be required on interview day). Decisions are based on baseline testing, written assessments, interviews and a pupil reference from the current school. Source
