About Deep Teaching

Deep Teaching helps families choose a school in London using published facts: where each school's leavers went, what it costs, how admissions work and which dates are still open. Every figure names its source.

What it is

A free directory of 3,068 London schools, state and independent, across all 33 boroughs, with a short questionnaire that turns a family's own priorities into a list of schools to look at and the reason for each one. 111 schools have published leaver destinations here and 2,233 have dated 2027 admissions deadlines.

How the data is gathered

  • Official records. The Department for Education's register of schools, its results and destination tables, its applications and offers figures, and Ofsted's inspection data. These are open data, republished under the Open Government Licence.
  • Schools' own pages. Fees, admissions dates, open days and leaver destinations are read from each school's website. We keep the address of the page and the words the figure came from.
  • Council pages. The 2027 application dates for state schools come from each London borough.

How it is checked

  • A figure from a school's website is stored only with the passage it came from, and that passage must literally contain the number. A figure we cannot trace is not shown.
  • Automatic checks run before any data is published: no admissions date outside its cycle, no fee outside a plausible range, no closed school in the lists, no leaver destination that could not happen (a boys' school "sending leavers" to a girls' school).
  • Where a school or the government has not published something, the page leaves it blank and says so. A blank is never treated as a weakness, and nothing is estimated to fill it.
  • The data was last refreshed on 10 October 2026.

What it does not do

  • It does not rank schools, score them or name a "best" school. Lists are ordered by fit with a family's answers, and the page says why.
  • It does not predict whether a child will get a place, and it gives no admissions percentages.
  • It does not replace a visit, the school's own admissions office or your council's admissions team. Dates and fees change: confirm them with the school before you rely on them.
  • Teacher, tutor and specialist matching are part of our long-term vision and are not yet available.

Editorial independence

No school pays to appear, to be placed higher or to be described differently, and we take no commission from any school, tutor or agent. Schools cannot edit their pages. If a school shows us a public source for a correction, we make it, for that school and for any other school it applies to.

Corrections

We correct mistakes quickly and in the open. Anyone can report one from the “Report an error” link on a school's page; schools can use the page for schools. Each correction to the data is listed on the public corrections page with the date and the reason. 621 corrections are listed there today. If a correction changes something a parent may have relied on, such as a deadline, the school's page says that the date changed.
