A status ("Closes in 12 days") is shown only for a closing date we have checked, worked out from today's date, 10 October 2026. Other dates are printed as the school published them, with its own wording beside them. Dates given only as "early January" are shown as approximate and never counted down. Always confirm with the school or council.
Independent schools run their own admissions. You register directly with the school, usually for a fee, and the school sets its own deadlines, assessments and offer dates, which are separate from the borough process.
Approximately 40 boys and girls join Westminster Under School at 11+, a through-school place with guaranteed automatic progression to Westminster School in Year 9 with no further testing. Process: ISEB Common Pre-Tests online in November of Year 6, written papers in Mathematics and English in January, and interviews in February conducted by two senior staff members (one from each school). Applicants for 11+ cannot at the same time apply for 13+ entry to Westminster School. Source
Approximately 125 children join at Year 9 from around 500 applications. Candidates register while in Year 5; pre-interview ISEB Common Pre-Tests are taken in October/November of Year 6 (raw scores adjusted for age); approximately 250 applicants are invited to interview, with further 40-minute tests in Mathematics and English at the interview stage in January. Offer decisions at the end of February of Year 6; a school reference is required in March of Year 8. International pupils cannot be accepted at 13+ unless parents are UK-resident. Source
Around 600-650 candidates apply annually; four 45-minute entrance exams in the candidate's chosen A Level subjects, then approximately 190 top-performing candidates are invited to an interview day (15-minute interviews in each of the four examination subjects, a 15-minute general interview and a 45-minute Interview Day Assessment; attendance in person required). Between 75 and 85 places offered, with a waiting list. Conditional offers require a minimum of eight (I)GCSE passes at 7, of which at least four at 8-9 in the subjects to be studied at A Level.
