Admissions

Independent schools run their own admissions. You register directly with the school, usually for a fee, and the school sets its own deadlines, assessments and offer dates, which are separate from the borough process.

  • Year 6 (10+)

Competitive process: registration, then computerised assessments at CLS in English, Maths, verbal and non-verbal Reasoning, Creative Comprehension and Puzzles (online, 105 minutes) plus a 30-minute creative writing task. Registration, then computerised assessments at CLS (online Part 1, 105 minutes: English, Mathematics, verbal/non-verbal Reasoning, Creative Comprehension and Puzzles; adaptive for Maths and Reasoning) plus a 30-minute handwritten creative writing task. Candidates who perform well attend a 15-20 minute interview and group activity; offers rest on assessments, interview and a confidential school report. Source

  • Sixth form (16+)

Registration, then a day of assessments at CLS: written 45-minute assessments in each subject chosen for A-Level plus the GL CAT4 cognitive ability test (online, around 75 minutes).
