Admissions

Independent schools run their own admissions. You register directly with the school, usually for a fee, and the school sets its own deadlines, assessments and offer dates, which are separate from the borough process.

Entry points, as published by the school

  • Year 9 (13+)

Register by 30 September of Year 6 (non-refundable fee GBP 450 inc VAT); later registrations are Late Applicants competing for fewer places. All boys sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test in the Autumn term of Year 6 and a confidential reference is requested; boys who pass are invited to the Harrow Test at the School in the Spring term of Year 6 (20-minute House Master interview, one-hour computerised English and Maths assessment, 20-minute group activity). Results in late April/early May of Year 6: A1 List (place in a specific House), A2 List (place, House confirmed later), B List (Waiting List) or C List (no offer); all offers are conditional on sitting Common Entrance or the Academic Scholarship examinations in Year 8. • Sixth form (16+) · 20 places

Up to 20 boys are admitted into Year 12 each year; applicants should be predicted at least seven or eight GCSE passes at grade 7/8/9 (A/A*) and suited to boarding. Register by early September of Year 11 (fee GBP 450 inc VAT) with a CV, a one-page handwritten letter to the Head Master, the most recent school report and passport ID. Strong applicants choose four intended Sixth Form subjects: tests in two subjects are sat at the applicant's own school in the Autumn term, then shortlisted boys attend an assessment day at Harrow in November for the third and fourth tests plus interviews with the Head Master and the Registrars; offers to standard applicants in December of Year 11.
