Candidates sit English (1 hour 15 minutes: reading comprehension 45 minutes, creative writing 30 minutes) and Maths (1 hour 15 minutes: multiple-choice and short-answer sections covering Core Mathematics and Maths Problems); content matches the National Curriculum at end of Key Stage 2, there is no reasoning paper and no past papers are published. Candidates sit an objective multiple-choice test of thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills plus a 20-minute writing task on a topical issue; no preparation is required. Two one-on-one interviews with senior staff in November; a confidential report including GCSE forecast is requested. Conditional offers require an average grade of 7.0 across eligible GCSE subjects.
